Milestone 62 - 62 M. to P. By the Turnpike
Milestone 62 is within city limits, the first mile marker one would see on the way out of Lancaster City. It's overlooked by a castle complete with a portcullis and a modern twist K-9 patrols. It's on what is now a one way street, King, so it can only be seen by approaching it from the West.
Milestone 63 may have been put up a little later. Susan Frazer documented it in 1907. She said it was on West King street. It read "63 M to P 10 M to C" meaning 63 miles to Philadelphia 10 miles to Columbia. A brief search of King street in 2009 failed to produce it.
